Making a purchase
By agreeing to order products on this website the buyer is agreeing to purchase at the price and in the way described, and is agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions of sale. pretaportobello’s acceptance of the order is conditional on receipt and acceptance of payment and the ability of the seller to provide the item.
Once you have placed an order through our online checkout process, you will receive an order confirmation email. The confirmation email is acknowledgement that your order has been received, however it does not constitute order acceptance.

In the event of this, you will be notified as soon as possible. Where, for any reason the item cannot be provided within 30 days, any payment received will be refunded in full. pretaportobello accepts most UK debit cards, MasterCard and Visa. All transactions will be processed by the secure payment gateway provided by SAGEPAY www.sagepay.com. pretaportobello does not hold credit card details. During the payment process the card issuer will be asked to perform the usual verification checks. In the event of card refusal, pretaportobello cannot be liable for non-delivery or delay. If for any reason we cannot supply an item we will return payment immediately.
When placing an order, the customer undertakes that all details provided to pretaportobello are true, accurate and valid, that the customer is authorised to use the payment card, and that there are sufficient funds to cover the cost of the purchase.

From time to time pretaportobello will issue promotional/discount codes either via publications, third parties or directly from pretaportobello itself to its customers. Promotional codes enable a customer - at the time of ordering - to make a saving on a new order placed with pretaportobello.com. Promotional/discount codes may require a minimum spend level, which will be clearly stated alongside the promotional offer or in the direct email correspondence with the customer.
Personal discount codes provided direct to customers are non-transferable and cannot be used by anyone other than the named recipient of the promotional code. Promotion codes are only valid for a limited period of time. The expiry date will be publicised with the relevant promotion code. Only one promotion code can be used per order. Promotional codes cannot be retrospectively applied to orders already placed. Promotional codes or vouchers given as competition prizes a valid for a limited time period and thereafter will expire. Unclaimed prizes will not be reissued.
Promotion codes are not valid in conjunction with any other promotion. Unless otherwise stated, promotional or discount codes are not valid on Sale, Haggle or Bargain Bin items.
Discount codes cannot be applied to replicated orders, i.e. a customer is not permitted to place an identical order to an order already placed so as to apply a discount code, only to then cancel the original order. pretaportobello reserves the right to void such replicated orders.
In instances where stock is limited or in high demand, the use of promotional or discount codes may be restricted to one item per discount redeemed. If multiples of the same stock is purchased using a discount code, your order may be voided, and you will be notified.
pretaportobello reserves the right to decline to accept orders or to void orders already made, where, in its opinion, a promotion code is invalid for the order being placed or does not meet the terms & conditions associated with that code.
pretaportobello MarketSpace Sellers are not obliged to be part of pretaportobello's discount schemes. Where a Seller does not accept promotional codes, a clear notice will appear on all product pages.
In the event of product returns, refunds will be given for the original purchase once the discount is applied, less any shipping costs charged on the original order.
In the event of part of the order being returned, the value of the discount applied on that order will be spread between the goods proportionately. If a minimum spend applied to the original order in order to qualify for a discount, and a refund of a returned item means that the original discount would not apply, the amount refunded to the customer will be adjusted to reflect this.
Credit notes may be given where a refund is not applicable. Credit notes work in the same way as promotional codes. In the event of a return of goods that have been purchased with a credit note, pretaportobello will not give a monetary refund for the goods, rather will re-issue the credit note. Depending on the circumstances as to why the credit note was issued, a time limit or expiry date may apply to the credit note. The credit note may or may not deduct any postage costs incurred.
On occasion, pretaportobello will give free gifts when orders are placed above a certain value. If a customer places a qualifying order, and receives a free gift, but then returns part of their order so their order value is under the free gift threshold (and does not return the free gift), pretaportobello reserves the right to deduct the value of the free gift off any refund due.
FREE GIFT PROMO 10.07.15 - Spend £25 or over and add a friendship watch to your basket, use code FREEBIE to get it free. To claim your free watch you must spend £25 or over (before adding the watch to your basket) to be able to redeem your free Friendship Watch. If for any reason your order does not amount to £25 yet you are still able to get the watch free at the checkout then pretaportobello reserves the right to not send out a free watch.
pretaportobello reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions at any time. pretaportobello reserves the right to terminate the validity of any promotional code at any time.
pretaportobello gift vouchers, and how to use them, are clearly explained on each product page. Discounts or offers, unless explicitly described as relating to gift vouchers, cannot be used to purchase gift vouchers. Gift voucher codes are emailed to the purchaser.
Vouchers can be used as part payment of an order, with the balance being paid as usual with a valid credit or debit card. Any unspent credit will be stored with the relevant code for future use. Customers are advised to make a record of the credit outstanding balance.
pretaportobello gift vouchers are only valid for a limited time. This voucher must be used by the date shown so customers are advised to check their voucher to find out when to use it by.
pretaportobello cannot accept any responsibility for lost or deleted gift voucher emails. Customers are advised to print and keep the voucher details safe until use.
If you need a refund, this will be made in the same way as the original payment method (such as onto a gift voucher, debit/credit card account, or a combination of the two).
Occasionally, pretaportobello will issue discount codes or vouchers as competition prizes. In these cases, the items purchased with the prize voucher are non-returnable and non-refundable and the expiry date will be clearly indicated.
pretaportobello is not obliged to extend any expired codes if the owner has missed the use-by date.
pretaportobello reserves the right to vary these terms and conditions.
pretaportobello lets you Haggle for instant discounts on selected items across the site. Here customers are able to barter with our market trader for a deal off the Buy It Now price. Haggle instructions are available on every Haggle product page. Haggling does not reserve an item, and pretaportobello cannot be held responsible if an item sells out during the Haggle process. Once an offer on a Haggle item has been accepted, this is the price that must be paid for that item and it is not possible to enter a lower offer.
Haggle promotions are not continuous. A product can be put into Haggle one day and taken out the next day. Customers are advised to take advantage of the Haggle opportunity when they can.
pretaportobello will, on occasion, make items available on a pre-order basis. This is when stock is due to arrive within a certain date and customers are able to pay for their items in advance of this arrival in order to secure them. pretaportobello makes it very clear on the product listing when an item is on a pre-order basis. A pre-order item is secured at the time that payment is made, and therefore payment is made in advance of the stock arriving - not at the point of dispatch. In purchasing a pre-order item, you are agreeing to pay in advance of the stock arriving with pretaportobello.
Orders containing pre-order and in-stock items will not be dispatched until the pre-order items are in stock. If a customer wants the in-stock items sooner, they are advised to place 2 separate orders.
pretaportobello is not responsible when pre-order items are delayed, but will make every effort to inform customers of any change to delivery dates. Customers are entitled to cancel their orders in the event of delayed dispatch. On the rare occasion that there is a problem with a pre-order item such as supply has ceased or changed dramatically, customers will be informed via email and either given the opportunity to receive either a full refund or exchange. In this case, pretaportobello is not obliged to offer over and above a full refund or an exchange to the same order value.
Delivery and Returns Policy

Any items sold by pretaportobello's MarketSpace Sellers are dispatched direct from the Seller to you. MarketSpace items are clearly marked with the MarketSpace logo. pretaportobello has no influence in the delivery of MarketSpace products, so you must check the Seller's delivery and returns policies clearly before making a purchase. If you have any delivery, product or returns queries, you must contact the Seller direct. Returns of MarketSpace products should be returned direct to the Seller you purchased them from. If you spend £50 or over with the same MarketSpace seller, you will also qualify for FREE UK delivery with that seller.
pretaportobello offers a range of delivery options. We deliver to the UK, Europe and the majority of countries in the rest of the world. pretaportobello orders over £50 qualify for FREE UK saver delivery. International orders over £100 qualify for FREE International Delivery.
All orders will require a signature on delivery. Orders are delivered to an address rather than an individual. As such, customers are advised that if they are not in to sign for the delivery themselves, that the people occupying the delivery address are trustworthy. pretaportobello will not be held responsible for non-delivery or non-receipt of orders that have proof of delivery to the delivery address. In this case, it is the responsibility of the customer to file a denial of receipt claim with Royal Mail or the Courier company.
UK orders are sent via Royal Mail, depending on the delivery service chosen by the customer. pretaportobello will endeavour to dispatch all orders placed before 3pm the same day. However, during busy periods, this may not be possible so orders will be dispatched the following working day. Occasionally delays to dispatch may occur in which case the customer will be notified.
If you require guaranteed next working day delivery, we advise that you place your order before 2pm to guarantee same day dispatch. Next day delivery is for guaranteed delivery on the next working day, therefore we are unable to guaranteed Saturday delivery. For next day delivery orders placed on a Friday before 2pm, delivery is guaranteed on or before the following Monday.

pret a portobello currently uses Royal Mail for all UK deliveries. We use the International Signed For Service from Royal Mail for international deliveries. Our delivery services are being assessed ongoing, and we reserve the right to change delivery providers at any time or alter our delivery charges.
Customers are required to check all the information they provide when making a purchase. pretaportobello will not be responsible for items lost or delayed due to customers supplying an incorrect delivery address or postcode.
Delivery times are given as an indication but cannot be guaranteed by pretaportobello. Delivery times may be subject to delays outside of pretaportobello's control such as force majeure, for which pretaportobello will not be responsible. In the event that a delay or loss of order or item occurs, pretaportobello reserves the right to delay the sending of duplicate or replacement items, or the issuing of refunds, until the claim against the postal service/courier has been resolved.
International deliveries outside the EU may be subject to duty and custom charges for which the buyer is responsible. These taxes could result in a delay in delivery if items are held at customs. pretaportobello does not refund these taxes should you wish to return the purchase.
pretaportobello has a clear returns policy outlined at Delivery and Returns
, and customers agree to comply with this policy when they accept these terms and conditions and proceed with a transaction. pretaportobello only accepts returns made within 21 days of receipt, and can reject returned items if they are returned outside this period. In this instance, for any items received outside of the 21 day period, pretaportobello may send the return back to the customer at the customer's expense.
Therefore any returned items must arrive with us within the 21 day period and must be in their original packaging. No refunds will be given if, in pret a portobello's opinion, the item has been worn or marked and/or if the pretaportobello security tag has been removed. Any items returned worn, marked, with odour or smells, with perfume or deodorant stains and/or odour, washed, or handled inappropriately, or returned outside of the 21 day returns period will not be accepted and will be returned to the customer at the customer's expense. If items are not returned in their original packaging, or are not packaged properly, a returns processing fee may apply to bring the item back to a saleable condition.
pretaportobello does not accept returns for pierced earrings, underwear, hosiery or swimwear due to hygiene reasons.
Note - for orders outside the Consumer Contracts Regulations, the value of the refund will exclude shipping costs. If your order has been sent to a destination within the EU, all sales taxes will be refunded. For orders outside the EU, customs duties and sales taxes incurred by the purchaser are non-refundable. Returns from countries outside the EU must be clearly and accurately marked in all customs documentation as pretaportobello will not be responsible for customs duties incurred on returned items.
The buyer must fully complete the pretaportobello's returns process in order to return an item. If the buyer does not complete their name and order number, so the returned package is not identifiable, pretaportobello reserves the right not to issue a refund. In some cases, pretaportobello will issues a refund but a returns processing fee will be applied.
pretaportobello is not responsible for returned items that do not arrive back with us. Customers are advised to obtain proof of postage as it will be required for them to make a claim with the postal service should the return not arrive back with us. If proof of postage has not been obtained and the item does not arrive with us, we reserve the right not to issue a refund, and the customer must take up the claim direct with the postal service or delivery company used. pretaportobello is not responsible for any returns damaged in the post, so buyers should ensure the items are packaged securely to prevent damage in transit.
In some cases, where Royal Mail or the postal service responsible for delivery has been unable to secure a signature on delivery, the order will be taken to a post office and the customer will be left a notification card to collect or rearrange delivery. If the customer does not collect the order, or arrange a re-delivery with the post office, the order will usually be returned to pretaportobello. pretaportobello can resend the order to the customer, but this is at the customer's expense. Alternatively if a refund is given, this will be less the original postage charge. PLEASE NOTE: the 21 day returns policy will apply to the date that initial delivery was attempted, not the date of re-delivery or collection, so you will need to ensure your returns are within the period allowed, or they will not be accepted.
If you have received a faulty item, or the item is not what you originally ordered, please email firstname.lastname@example.org quoting the reason for return within 7 days of receiving your faulty or incorrect item. Please also advise whether you require a refund or a replacement. We will then respond via email on how to proceed with your return. You have 4 weeks from the date of receipt to return faulty items to us for a refund. Thereafter you have 6 months to return a faulty item to us for repair or replacement only. If we cannot repair or replace the item, you will be issued with a credit note. Once we have agreed to receive your return, you will need to send the faulty item back to us using a second class signed for delivery service. Once your faulty item has been inspected by us and deemed faulty, pretaportobello will reimburse you the cost of your return postage. If you choose to send an item back using a more expensive service, pretaportobello will not reimburse you, as you can be refunded a maximum cost of £3.70 return postage for UK orders. For international returns, you must email us prior to sending back your item, and we will advise how to proceed. Should an item come back to us that is clearly faulty through no fault of pretaportobello or the manufacturer, we reserve the right to not accept this return as faulty.

Item pricing, descriptions and availability
pretaportobello tries hard to ensure that all pricing and item descriptions are accurate. Photos have been made available to provide as accurate reflection as possible of the real item, however the user must acknowledge that there may be slight colour variations when viewed on screen. pretaportobello reserves the right to amend prices or descriptions in the event of any accidental inaccuracies.
Whilst every effort is made to ensure that all details, descriptions and prices on the pretaportobello website are accurate, errors may sometimes occur. If pretaportobello identifies that an error has been made in the pricing, availability or description of the item(s) a customer has purchased, pretaportobello will notify the customer as soon as possible. The customer will have the option of re-confirming the order as per the updated details , or cancelling the order. In the event that the customer decides to cancel the order due to any inaccuracies, but the customer has already paid for the purchase, a full refund will be given.
pretaportobello tries hard to select the best quality vintage items to sell in its vintage stalls. The buyer must recognise that vintage clothing and accessories, by their nature, are not brand new and will be subject to some signs of wear.
Vintage items are generally pre-worn items where there is only 1 of each item, although there are some products that have multiples, or that are vintage-style rather than pre-worn. Vintage items are clearly described, and pretaportobello will always try to point out any defects or very obvious signs of wear. Sizing for vintage items is given as accurately as possible, however it may vary due to the age or nature of the item. Vintage items are sold on an ‘as seen’ basis.

After the time period expires, some or all of the prices revert back to their original level prior to the Flash Sale. pretaportobello is under no obligation to offer refunds or retrospective discounts to customers who bought items prior to the Flash Sale or after the Flash Sale has closed.

pretaportobello enables you, the Buyer, to liaise with MarketSpace sellers through the pretaportobello website. pretaportobello advises that all communication be made through pretaportobello.com, and attempts should not be made to liaise with Sellers direct through email or telephone. Should you make any purchases direct with any of the Sellers outside of pretaportobello’s MarketSpace website, you do so at your own risk. Your purchases will not be protected and pretaportobello will not be responsible for the security of the transaction or any non-delivery of goods.

Customers can contact us via email, where we endeavour to respond within 5 hours of receiving the mail.
